Service Information

How the service works

Last updated: July 2026.

Cara Horwood works as an independent private carer / personal assistant, not as a care agency. Care is agreed directly between Cara and the client, or their representative.

Initial visit

A short initial visit is offered so that everyone can meet, discuss what support is needed and decide whether the arrangement is suitable.

Visits, timings, tasks, rates and payment arrangements are agreed in writing before care starts.

Care arrangements

Care is provided based on the individual arrangements agreed with each client. These may include companionship, practical support, personal assistance, cleaning, light household tasks, or other agreed support.

If the support required is outside what Cara can safely or appropriately provide, Cara may decline the work or recommend that another professional service is contacted.

Emergencies

This website and service are not for emergency medical help. In an emergency, or if someone is at immediate risk, call 999.

If there are urgent health concerns that are not life-threatening, you should contact NHS 111, a GP, or another appropriate healthcare professional.

Payments and invoices

Invoices are usually issued weekly or monthly, depending on what has been agreed with the client.

Payment methods, due dates and any additional charges, such as travel, mileage or late cancellation fees, will be confirmed in writing before care starts.

Cancellations and ending care

Either side can end the arrangement with reasonable notice, unless there is an urgent safeguarding, safety, non-payment or serious conduct concern.

If a visit needs to be cancelled or rearranged, as much notice as possible should be given.

Website and client portal

This website exists to introduce Cara’s services and provide a way to make enquiries or manage information where a client portal is used.

The website and any client portal are provided for convenience. While reasonable care is taken to keep them available and secure, access may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, updates or technical issues.

The website and client portal are hosted and technically supported by an independent hosting provider. The hosting provider does not provide care services and is not part of the care agreement between Cara and the client.

Privacy and data

Personal information may be collected when you make an enquiry, use the website, use the client portal, or become a client.

Details about what information is collected, how it is stored, who may have access to it, and your rights are explained in the Privacy Policy.

Website information

Information on this website is provided as general service information. It does not create a contract and should not be treated as medical, legal or financial advice.

The details of any care arrangement are always confirmed individually with the client or their representative.
