Safeguarding

Safeguarding Statement

Last updated: July 2026.

The safety, dignity and wellbeing of everyone in my care come first. I take safeguarding seriously and will act on any concern that someone in my care may be at risk of harm, neglect, abuse or exploitation.

My approach

I aim to work in a way that respects each person’s wishes, dignity, privacy and independence, while also taking appropriate action if there is a concern about their safety or wellbeing.

Safeguarding decisions are made carefully and proportionately, taking into account the person’s views wherever possible.

What may be a safeguarding concern

Safeguarding concerns may include physical abuse, emotional abuse, financial abuse, neglect, self-neglect, domestic abuse, discriminatory abuse, organisational abuse, sexual abuse, or any situation where someone may be at risk of harm.

Concerns can be raised by the person receiving care, a family member, friend, neighbour, professional, or anyone else who is worried about someone’s safety or wellbeing.

What I will do

If a concern is identified, I will act in the best interests of the person affected and take appropriate steps to help keep them safe.

Where appropriate, this may include speaking with the person affected, contacting their representative or emergency contact, seeking professional advice, recording the concern, or reporting it to Oxfordshire County Council’s adult safeguarding team or the relevant local authority.

Emergencies

If someone is in immediate danger, needs urgent medical help, or there is an immediate risk of serious harm, I will contact the emergency services on 999.

Safeguarding is not a replacement for emergency medical care. If urgent health advice is needed but it is not a life-threatening emergency, NHS 111, a GP, or another appropriate healthcare professional should be contacted.

Reporting a concern

For concerns in Oxfordshire, adult safeguarding concerns can be reported to Oxfordshire County Council.

If the person lives outside Oxfordshire, the concern may need to be raised with the local authority responsible for that area.

DBS and training

I hold a current Enhanced DBS check and have completed training relevant to working with vulnerable adults.

I will continue to refresh my knowledge and follow appropriate safeguarding guidance when supporting clients.

Raising concerns with me

Families, clients and representatives are always welcome to raise concerns with me directly. I will listen carefully and take concerns seriously.

If you believe someone is at immediate risk, please call 999 first.
